Tone Alert Radios

The Tone Alert Radio (TAR) is a specially designed weather radio. The TAR is used to notify listeners in the unlikely event of an accidental release involving the stored chemical weapons at the Pueblo Chemical Depot. The more routine use of this unit is to monitor the National Weather Service broadcast.

The TAR uses the same frequency as Pueblo's National Weather Service enabling the TAR to notify the public of important weather information affecting Pueblo County. In the event of an emergency, the TAR will sound a warning tone followed by a voice message. TARs are located in occupied structures in Northeastern Pueblo County in areas immediately surrounding the Pueblo Chemical Depot.
